Managed Services Junior Network Engineer (Deerfield Beach, FL)

Managed Service Junior Network Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the network infrastructure, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems. The role involves working under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure network performance, security, and efficiency.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Network Setup and Configuration:
    • Assist in the installation and configuration of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
    • Participate in the deployment of new network solutions and enhancements.
  • Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
    • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as updates and patches, to ensure network reliability and security.
    • Assist in the development and documentation of network policies and procedures.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide support to end-users and resolve network-related issues.
    • Work with the IT support team to address connectivity problems and ensure optimal network performance.
  • Network Security:
    • Assist in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
    • Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, documentation, and inventory records.
    • Prepare reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT staff to ensure seamless integration of network systems.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the planning and execution of network projects.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP
  • JNCIA
  • JNCIE
  • PCNSE

Experience:

  • Basic understanding of network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and software.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Basic server experience; Windows Server 2012-2022.
  • Basic VMware VCenter experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in networking or IT support roles
  • Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Basic experience with Windows Server 2012-2022
